Alex’s technical leadership in high risk operations, commercial space and AI domains draws from having led international teams to deliver complex missions and programs. Many of these achieved world firsts, including the smallest launch vehicle to reach the Moon, the first mid-air capture of a returning launch vehicle stage, and Australia’s first commercial launch of space-capable rockets.
His experience spans across business strategy, government policy, engineering design, and test, manufacturing, and operations. Whether transferring critical lessons across domains, distilling highly technical knowledge into regulatory and risk assessment environments, building teams from the ground up, or developing highly targeted and actionable business and government strategy, Alex’s broad capabilities help address challenges of any type.
Alex is CEO of Deker Artificial Intelligence and was previously a Director of the Space Law Council Australia and New Zealand, helping bridge the divide between technical and legal approaches to problem-solving.
